Cellphones are so stuffed with battery-draining functions (don’t you mean ‘essential life-enhancing capabilities’? - Ed) that some of the digerati have dubbed them “the remote control for your life”. But now, bizarrely, this particular remote control is set to get a remote control of its own.
In the opening media salvo before next week’s mobile technology beanfeast - the 3GSM convention in Barcelona - Sony-Ericsson has announced that it’s to launch its most capacious Walkman-branded cameraphone yet - and it even comes with a diminutive remote control. Plug the W880 (which stores 900 tracks on a 1-gigabyte memory stick) into a cradle, plug that into your hifi, and sit back with the remote for some track switching and shuffling (etc) at a distance.
